Sustainable Design for Office Upfit

Sustainable Design for Office Upfit

Bayer’s North American Crop Science Division Headquarters required modernization to reflect a modern brand, accommodate increased staff levels and attract professionals to Bayer. CRB provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing services to help create an efficient, modern facility within the existing building envelope on Bayer’s growing campus.

The renovated facility features updated office spaces that feel more comfortable, operate more efficiently and provide increased daylighting to create a visually stimulating and productive environment for employees. The 160,000-square-foot renovated facility accommodates 700 occupants—an increase of 200 occupants in the same space. In 2016, this facility achieved LEED® Gold certification.

Some of the key design features we included to increase sustainability and productivity included:

  • High efficiency HVAC and air handling systems with energy recovery that enhance thermal and fresh air comfort (30% savings)
  • Low water use plumbing fixtures (40% savings)
  • LED lighting that is easier on human eyes and use of computer screens (30% savings)
  • Audio/visual systems in conference rooms bringing the facility into modern functionality connecting global colleagues
